Wasp spray is a bad idea, it won't work, plenty of stories online about intruders going right through it.
If your going to get pepper spray, get the gel. In confined quarters of a home its best not to have the mist floating I'm the air incase you have to escape that direction.
I suggest a a taser that fires probes, it allows you to keep distance and keep shocking even after the initial hit. Turn it ALL the way up.
If you have others in the house(daughter) I don't suggest a gun if you don't have training. If you miss and your daughter is in the next room over penetration is a serious concern.
Get a monitored alarm system, so the police show up. Have panic buttons installed at all outside doors along with a portable one for your purse.
