This is the key. Its about choice. If they don't want to test, they can get "their" money elsewhere.

Welfare for the able bodied is a govt subsidy for laziness at best and crime at worst. "It's not enough to live on" so many will shoplift, commit burglaries, sell drugs etc. for that extra income.

If the economy worsens, welfare will go away. Better to make it go away sooner than later.

While there may be legitimate philisophical arguments over this issue, I believe at this point vote might come down to just how many voices there are who are fed up with tax, debt, etc... vs. how many are actually on these programs. We might be seeing the reality of this statement:

Tax reform is needed in so many ways. EIC is at the best a stealth tax break for low income and at the most welfare by any other name. It just voilates every sense of what is fair to give back more money than was paid in.
