My GM insurance stopped covering prescriptions at Walgreens back in the '90s. It seems Walgreens have a bad habit of shorting people on their 'scripts. It happens so often around the country that they were dropped.

Then we went to a mail-order provider and 90-day 'scripts. Pretty convenient actually.

All our short-term 'scripts can be filled at local pharmacies that are in our program. CVS and Walmart are. I've never had any real problem with CVS and I always use the Walmart pharmacy at the smaller Neighborhood Market.

I heard the other day that CVS is going to quit filling 90 day scripts the max will be 30 days, and if you try to go somewhere else they going to charge a penalty for leaving.

It seems our Walgreens is totally incompetent.
Are Walgreens that was everywhere?

Walgreens & CVS have a bad business model. They have technically trained people managing stores. That doesn’t work. You need business minded people running the show, with the pharmacy folks reporting to management that is business and service focused.

CVS is worse than Walgreens.

Walgreens sucks green donkey dicks. I've been using the same one since late 1999.

They USED to answer the phone reasonably quickly. I've held for 30 minutes then hung up on. I've had them pick up the phone, lay it down, and I can hear the conversation between the pharmacist and a customer. HIPPA anyone?
Because they are so short staffed and thus overworked they tend to be grumpy and snarly.

They USED to have 3 or 4 or 5 pharmacy techs on duty and you didn't have to wait in line for 30 minutes. This sucks for the older or physically difficult folks who just need to pick up their prescriptions and go home.

I've pretty much kicked them to the curb. I've tried CVS and they sometimes are better.

I've been using the wallymart neighborhood market pharmacy lately. They have adequate staffing and pleasant people. Also has a drive up window if you don't want to walk inside, such as rain or bad weather.

There is an independent pharmacy nearby. In fact, the CVS & walgreens and wallymart neighborhood pharmacy and the indendent pharmacy are within 2 or 3 blocks from other. They independent is growing rapidly, getting more customers, by word of mouth. I've not tried them yet but some neighbors and friends have and brag about them.

IIRC CVS was fined by the OK State Pharmacy Board a few years back for short staffing. July of 2020, you can google it. They all need to be fined.

It's always a race to the bottom. So competetive for the last penny of profit they'll cut way lower than the bone. That's fine to be competive, but it doesn't help those who are sick, or elderly or infirm who just need to get their script and go home without hassle.

Full disclosure, I used to be a walgreens employee. I did NOT work for the retail pharmacy division, I worked for a really obscure and rarely known division that was NOT a retail pharmacy.

Life was good back then, but then the CEO of walgreens lead a merger/sale to Boots Alliance (out of Europe) and things went to crap shortly thereafter and still are. I learned to detest the new walgreens and to feel sorry for their employees.

The walgreens near me was open 24 hours, still is I think. They'd have the pharmacist and 2 techs overnight. One tech drive through, one front counter.
Earlier this year I utilized the 24 hour drive up to pickup a script after midnight.
The only person in the pharmacy was the pharmacist who was having to work the drive up window, which has 2 lanes. Cars were lined up in both lanes (this is normally a very busy pharmacy even at night. Because of the speaker in one of the lines tube things, I heard the pharmacist tell a customer that they could NOT fill a prescription because they could not take time to fill it, too busy running both drive up lanes. That sucks.

The excuse is always the same: Covid this, Covid that, help didn't come in tonight. Bulls***. ETC ETC ETC. Poor scheduling to save every possible penny, screw the customers/patients, wear down your staff physically and emotionally. Screw that!

CVS in Choctaw America has no complaints from us! The one in Chickasha was jacked, gave me Viagra on mistake. I was a little stiff about that.
You got Viagra? My health insurance was too cheap to pay for that. They stuck me with the Generic version Mycoxafloppin !!!

Hands down, the VA mail order pharmacy is the best pharmacy I've ever used. If I get a prescription I need right away I use WalMart in Ada. Wife uses them, too. It's hit or miss there. Walgreen's is worse.

When we lived over in Altus we used WalMart. We don't get a lot of meds but we still used them fairly frequently for refills and such. No once, not a single time, did we have a prescription filled that there wasn't some sort of problem. Never.

It was the same way in Lewiston, ID. I'm not sure why it's so difficult to get prescriptions right but it seems all pharmacies suffer from this. I can't imagine the regulations and rules they have to follow...not to mention dealing with insurance companies.
