Thanksgiving food sucks

Who chose the traditional menu? Do people REALLY like all that stuff?

I don't like turkey
I don't like stuffing
I don't like sweet potato/yams
I don't like cranberry stuff
I don't like pumpkin pie

For real, how did THAT become "tradition".

Gimme a steak and mashed potatoes...I'm good.

I do like Thanksgiving dinner. But it’s not like I’m going to go look for it or make it. This year I’m smoking Brisket and doing that kind dinner. Wife and kids will eat on it for a week and no meat will get tossed out.

It's all about the gravy. If the gravy is on point, it makes everything much better. The pumpkin pie needs whipped cream, not gravy.

I do not care for messed up sweet potatoes.
Messed up as in marshmallows on them.
Just cook them in the skin and open them up and add butter and salt / pepper .

Many pumpkin pies I have eaten are very bland.
You must use spices in them and Cloves are one of the spices. Nutmeg, Ginger and Cinnamon.
I also like to add some molasses or use a little bro9wn sugar and cut that condensed milk down to 3/4 of a cup per pie.. not the entire can.

Then you have a good pie.

I like the dark meat on the turkey best as white meat is eeeehhhh.

I love stuffing.

My friend does not like cranberry sauce.
I had some out last year and he asked what it was and I said cranberry sauce.
NO it's not he said.

Yea it is but it is homemade from a bag of cranberries.
It's kind of like a cranberry jelly that is good with peanut butter.

He loved it and said he had only had the stuff from a can.

Mama is Asian and we normally rotate back and forth between a traditional big turkey dinner with all the trimmings (and eat leftovers for 3 or 4 days) and Asian food.....I was informed / reminded yesterday that it's turkey this year which is fine with me both are good.

I’m not saying OP is wrong, but OP is WRONG.

I like the trad foods like turkey, potatoes, Mac & cheese, sweet taters, etc.

We also have baked beans, green bean casserole, boiled cabbage and pecan pie. Pumpkin pie, I can take it or leave it but give me pecan pie!

Kinda, turkeys, pumpkins, cranberries and potatoes are all native to the Americas.
