I don't pattern my deer with game cams. Guess I should, but just want to see what's in the area. I see good bucks in one or two pics and then they are gone for days. Might come back, might never see them again.
I have narrow strips of woods and brushy areas to hunt, so its not like they live there. They pass through in their travels, and I wait on them. Lots of stand time.

I haven't found weather to be a noticeable factor in movement on my place, but I killed my 2014 and 2015 bucks on new moons. I didn't start putting any serious credence in moon phases and deer movement until the last couple years. It may be a total coincidence, but after these two years successes, I've become a believer.

I'd like to go back and try to "back pattern" a couple other kills to see if they might have been on new moons too, but I haven't been able to find moon phases from past years.

I've gone back and looked at my top 4 biggest, and there's zero pattern as far as dates, times, weather, moon, nothing........2 taken in the morning, 2 in the evening.

Here's a moon calendar that you can back date the years.

Thanks for the link! I went back and looked at my 4 biggest bucks, and two were on full moons and two on new moons. The moon thing may be nothing, but I'm going to keep watching it.

Dang, I'm impressed with you record keepers. Never kept track that close.

I don't keep that close track much anymore. I do know that the biggest bucks that I've seen, not harvested, have been between November 4-12th. May have just been a glimpse, or turned at the last minute and couldn't get a bow shot for what ever reason, but that seems to be the dates. I've got a friend who hunts the river in Major county who's killed I don't know how many nice ones over the years with bow on Nov 6-8. Those three days have been magic for him.
