I’ve grilled more in the last 4 years since my brother and I have been splitting a show steer than I did in the prior 50 years of my life. My grill is going to be hot for the next 6 weeks, because the county show is getting close and we still have a bunch of steaks left over from last year.

...while I have managed to cook bacon and eggs and maybe a hamburger, that is about my limit. But at my age, unless the wife goes first or whatever, I'm not likely to be inclined to learn.

Cooking is empowering, and complicated. I use to work in commercial kitchens and honestly prefer the quiet solitude of the emergency room as far as job stress goes.

But the best how to cook cook book I would recommend is Alton Brown's "I'm just here for the food" as a kid who's parents came home late expecting dinner I learned from the Betty Crocker cook book. I also gotta praise the old editions of The Joy of Cooking.
