Dang, my second prediction of the night. Dude and his wife seem to have a very large influx of cash courtesy of the local PD and city, Walmart settles big $$$ out of court and the LEOs are all fired for their actions. It is really amazing that in this day and age you have 1) fat phucks like several of those LEOs that are able to be cops in that physical condition. Hell, they were not even that old to be in that shape. 2) The two LEOs that were out for blood on a huge power trip fully aware they were being filmed and still acting the way they did. They surly couldn't stand there thinking they were in the right to do what they were about to do and get away with it. They didn't even give thought that what they were dead set on doing may not end up well for them, their department or the city. This kind of mentality is what gives LEOs a tarnished reputation and does not bode well for the general public either.

Emotional train wrecks can usually be avoided. If someone is being a jerk, ignore them or walk away ...it is usually possible. Problems happen when you decide to respond in kind......be polite upfront with people and it usually defuses such situations....Internet outrage culture is foolish.

There is a similar story on CNN about a man attacking McDonalds employees over a “no straw unless you ask for one” policy/law. Just laugh it off and walk away...enough with the outrage/internet hero nonsense.....be a peacemaker and absorb or ignore the irritation so you can be blessed...life is too short for nonsense.

I don’t really see a reason that anyone other than the actual person purchasing the beverages to show ID. Even then, some people are obviously over the age of 21 and it shouldn’t matter.

I can’t find the statute now, probably because the law may have changed, but there was once a statute that said “ID must be presented upon demand”. I do remember an arrest on a traffic stop where the driver attempted to use a someone else’s drivers license as his own. He refused to give his real name, was arrested and jailed and booked as John Doe. After running his fingerprints they found out who he really was and the ADA charged him with obstruction.

It irritates me when a business wants to scan my DL. EVERYTHING on that license can be put into a store database and I don’t think that information is any of their business. If it were me, when they started giving me a hard time over the purchase, I would have simply said “fine, cancel the sale, I’m leaving”.

I watched the entire video. I agree with SMS that his stature as a veteran had nothing to do with the incident and was only incidental information.
I don't give a crap about walmarts policy of ID or any other facility. I don't get asked and just get a look and comment you look old enough, and then I question them saying my wife says I need to quit acting like a 2 year old sometimes, and we both laugh. End of that story.
My son is an incomplete quadriplegic and in a wheelchair due to an accident. He wouldn't put up a fuss like that but if I walked into a situation where 5 gestapo thugs took him out of his chair and put him on the ground like a freeking terrorist, I'd probably see ol sparky. It wouldn't be a good situation.
The audacity that they would throw a paralyzed person on the ground and manhandle someone that has absolutely no possible chance of getting away or causing them harm is ludicris.
Cuff his arms to the chair, legs to the chair and roll him out to wherever they wanted him. Surely those pillsbury dough boy gestapo thugs had 4 sets of cuffs on them?
No matter that I disagree with the mans discourse and in fact he did apologize and offer his ID to the despicable leo and the cow before the debacle of taking him down. It's totally wrong to take someone that is in that condition into custody in that manner. They can suffer life threatening injuries because of atrophied muscles and weak bones and they don't even know they have suffered them because they are paralyzed with no pain feelings.
I hope the hell that city has to go bankrupt paying the lawsuits.

Several of you say the cops got him out of his wheelchair. He got up on his own. His friend, in the beginning, even states that he can stand, just not walk. Probably to explain why he was standing. If you listen from the 16:00 mark on, the cop asks him at least twice to sit back down in his wheelchair. Just wanting to clarify that.

DUI checkpoints have been declared unconstitutional in Texas according to my son that lives there. Not sure if its the Tx supreme court or the feds.
Must've been the Texas court; last time I looked at it, SCOTUS still said it was okay (I could go find the case if need be), and if it'd been SCOTUS, that would've affected the entire country.

Alternatively, there could be some details missing, and it was a particular kind of checkpoint, or a particular procedure, that was struck down. News stories are famously bad about getting that right, so no fault to him if that's the case.
You don’t reward stupidity. :(
Seriously? Don't you work for the government? How often have you seen that hold true?
...and the LEOs are all fired for their actions.
I was with you up to that point. In light of the video, they may not get medals for their heroism under difficult circumstances, but as long as "procedures were followed," I'd bet heavily against any meaningful discipline.
