Out this morning doing some Christmas shopping, and it seemed like everytime I was stopped at a red light, the vehicle in front of me had an expired paper tag. Don't they get stopped for those? The reason I ask...my lovely bride was driving her car in Norman recently when stopped because the decal on her tag was expired. That cost me $110 fine and then a penalty of another $100 the next day when I sheepishly had to go to the tag agent and get the decal I forgot to get a couple of months earlier.

I believe you could have taken the receipt and got it dismissed. That said, the cop that gave you a ticket was a dick. Never got a ticket for that, they'll just remind me or her to get it done. Which reminds me, two of mine are due... I work with cops all day long, they dont care about the sticker. My neighbor has had a paper tag on their Yukon XL for over a year, don't ask me how, they keep getting new ones. $275k house, and cant afford their car tag? And in the area I work, people actually put the plastic or tinted covers over their paper tags. Not unusual to see one thats 3-6 months out of date if you can even read it.

Sometimes I wish I had No insurance and No tag. And a big all steel vehicle.
I could crash those dimwits on the road with my huge all metal vehicle and the law would not be able to do a thing.
Well I would need to be on government assistance and have nothing in my name and no bank account.

Illegal alien would help also.
I have heard of Police officers letting traffic offenders go that can't speak English or just let them go if they look Mexican.

What is up with that???

I know because a friend of mine looks Mexican and told me.
Too much paperwork?
Would not get any money from them anyway because they disappear as easy as they appear.

I got stopped by a woman OHP for having a plastic tinted cover on my metal tag. She was very nice and gave me a warning. This was 10 years ago.

Its amazing to me how many people buy a vehicle and don't realize they have to pay tag, tax, and title fees later.
In OK, I agree.
In some states, the dealer handles all of that.
If the buyer finances the car, then it's either add more to the down payment to cover it or CHA-CHING! says the lender, just roll it into the financing.

I see it all the time and have been wondering about this crap...........

I hear there are a lot of "fake" paper tags now being used............. Low life scumbags will try anything to beat the system.
