I used to see tons of quail in Idaho. Haven't seen any around here.
I've not seen any quail on my OK property. Here in the AZ desert I often see Gambel's Quail (as captured by my daughter) and more dove (Eurasian collared, turtle/mourning, and white-wing) than one can count thanks to our proximity to dairy farms.

I love those nighthawks... Neat birds. I came across one of those in Idaho, too, but didn't know what it was.

They're awesome to listen to when they're divebombing insects just before dark and they make that buzzing noise with their wings I assume.

I've never heard that. I've never even seen one in the air. This guy was playing possum in the yard where I parked my propane truck. Only one I've ever seen. I assumed from the name they were a raptor...but they're not.

We always called them bullbats growing up. They fly around the house all summer I'll try to get a video of the sound.
