I'm on a new lease this year in Noble County, but the place I'm on has some cows which dont bother me. It has goats on it too. Now those goats bother me.

Do any of you have a problem seeing deer on places with goats? I have seen deer on the other side of the fences on this property so I'm guessing deer realy do not like being around goats.

Any thoughts? I'll never lease property with goats again if the rest of the season is like this.

I used to have deer walk through my place even with the horses the deer would walk through, but I got some goats to help with the weeds and now the deer go out of their way to avoid the pasture with goats. I wonder what it is about the goats cause I only have three, but I have watched the deer skirt around to avoid them.

One thing about goats. They are not grazers like cattle, they are browsers like deer. They eat the exact same stuff deer do, therefore the deer are having to compete with the goats for thier favorite foods. If the place is browsed hard by goats the deer may altogether avoid the place because their is simply little food on the place to attract them.

there are alot of acorn trees and I have a 55 gallon tripod feeder. I have bumped a buck or two in the dark (early mornings). I did talk to the guy, after my hunt today, who I lease from and he is going to move the goats this week.
I asked if they could be moved before rifle season starts and he had no problem with that. Maybe this will help.

A deer feeder with goats in the pasture is certainly no deer feeder. Makes great supplement for the guy's goats though! They gotta be suckin that corn up as soon as it hits the ground.

Corn kills goats, I think! Not sure they like whole corn all that well. I heard it kills little goats. Cant digest it. But beer cans and trash is ok.

I hunt 8 miles east of Perry, 1/2 mile south (Red Rock Ranch). I have a 40 ft. diameter cow panel pen around the feeder about 36" tall. The deer are eating the corn, but late at night. I have my feeder going off at 7 am and 4 pm.

At first the goats would eat up the corn, but after putting up the pen, I have not had a problem. Although, they have not jumped the fence yet. But as I posted earlier, the guy is going to move his goats today.
