My mom had a 85ish F150 with the 351. Thing got like 6 to 8 mpg. OY!!!
After I had it running right seems 11ish in town and 14ish highway if I was driving right . The way I drive it was usually 9 and 12 ish. Truck did not seem to be load sensitive unless just really running heavy ............. then good golly miss Molly hide the gas receipts Momma gonna be pissed LOL.

Here, but occasionally There.
Getting close to the 15 year old mark. 2008 Ford F450 that gets horrible mileage but tows an 18,500 pound RV quite well.

I'd say never on the econobox because I like a good solid vehicle in the event of an accident.

I'd say not likely on the 10-year-old luxury because it still wouldn't sit me high enough to see over most traffic for problems with traffic ahead.

I like reliability I would have to research it and if one had a V6 front wheel drive then that would be out.
I hate a V6.
I would probably take the econo box and jack it up a bit.
Need ground clearance ya know and a camo paint job.

Care less if it looks nice and if it had that 1 speed transmission (CVT) then that would be a deal breaker.

Makes the wife crazy as there are so many cars she likes but V6 and or CVT.
Now a Hyundai I have read here some have great luck with 450,000+ miles from them in a V6.
My straight 6 and 4 cylinders all go over 300,000 easy.

Had a 97 f-250 that was a beast. Just had to replace the body mounts and paint it to have it back to "nice truck" stage. Only thing that would have been better is if it would have been a diesel, the 351 loved the go sauce . POS stole it and parked it under a 350 welding rig in a ditch at Overholser .......... Miss that beast.
Current ride is a 2020 F-250 with a 3" lift, offroad package with skid plates, leather and all the bells and whistles running 4:30 gears, 10 speed transmission, and a 430 HP gasser. 13.6 MPG when not towing in mostly Hwy but some city driving. It's an old style push rod engine. Pop the hood and you can see all the spark plugs just like in the old days.
I voted for the 3/4 ton farm truck.

1976 (Beige? ) doesn't look look like much, but still runs great and grand kids love learning to drive a stick shift with the ole gal.

Dad had an 89 f250 with a 460 EFI. Talk about a beast. It would pull his 30 ft travel trailer up mountains in Colorado and pass cars while doing it.

Before that we had a 73 Chevy Cheyenne 454 HO. The speedometer was connected to the gas gauge, 7 MPG.
