LOL. I guess my thoughts on eugenics+anarchy kinda leaves me out in the cold, huh?
Most on the right just talk a coldhearted game. Few live it like you, Ted.

It is admirable, I'll give you that. I respect anyone who is honest about his stances. 99% of my hatred of the right is their hardline political positions usually fold up like a cheap lawn chair in the right circumstance. Buncha chest beaters.

Dude, kids are NOT that expensive. Who told you that?
I just raised one to 18 yo and its not expensive.
True dat. Plus all of that extra money I was bagging being an oil investor and mineral rights owner the last 10 years sure made raising my own 4 kids and my 2 stepkids a F'n breeze. The last kid is in his first year of college, now that oil has tanked we are still expected to help this kid out on stuff that his college trust and scholarships dont cover. So, it never ends. Lolll...

Very thorough studies.

That's across the board. Average cost for a lower income family is around $170K IIRC. Still a really nice car.

I wonder if I could finance an Audi R8 on $40K a year? Hmm. Vrooom.

Most parents I know personally are probably well into the $300k+ range per kid by 18.

Not to mention that we have had years and years of the Fed diluting the dollar.

Another part of the problem right now is the strength of the dollar. That makes our exports more expensive to the rest of the world. Funny that a dollar is worth more only when you sell something but when you need to buy something, it is still devalued.

Raising kids, inflation, etc...all the terrible economy crap - I think my dear old Dad is on to something when he says there is no bad economy for most folks. Just look at the parking lots of restaurants, theaters, casinos. Most folks don't even realize their too poor for that crap.

I bet it didn't cost $30k to raise my son and he didn't do without much.

I bet you're understimating by a bit, but knowing your history of financial planning and responsibility...you do not represent the norm anyways.

Kids aren't always healthy, either. And I know guys at work that spend $30k in childcare alone in a 3-4 years time. My one friend was paying $645 a month for after school care until he could change the hours he worked to be home in the afternoons. My mortgage is $540. Lol.
