I wonder how many of you have ever seen this bird before. He/she showed up in my backyard this Spring and has made him/herself at home. Very interesting bird. It actually shows up whiter in person, but is not an albino.

Anyone care to guess? It's actually pretty obvious.

The third, blurry picture is a Painted Bunting. One shows up every Spring. They're very shy.

I've seen a painted bunting at my feeders only twice in 30 years. For someone who likes to watch birds it's a pretty exciting deal to see them. Their coloring is strikingly bright and beautiful.

is it by chance the female bunting? the female is often bigger and less colorful in the bird world.
