If solar PV tech was good enough, you could have the roof of the car be a panel that would replenish the charge as long as it was a clear day, but it would have to be during noon-ish hours when the sun was directly overhead and there would be additional responsibility to keep the roof clean to maximize efficiency.

If we can last another 100 years without killing each other, it could happen.

Totally stupid solution for a contrived false problem. Yep, fine option if you live in the city and have everything you need within 10-30 miles. Outside that circle, no way for me. I don't even want an electric golf cart to use on my 10 acres out here in the country.

well to be honest tho, they chose a commuter car for a road trip.

i don't think at any point anyone has ever claimed "these make great cars for driving long distances!"

Have you guys ever tested how much drain a dead battery will put on an engine or an electric motor spinning an alternator.

I have and it is a lot of drain to charge a battery that is down.
NO way that a solar panel can put out that kind of amperage needed.

Electric vehicle heater..Think about that.
Think about the amp draw at a home with an electric heater. How about the amp draw from a toaster?

Lots of power being used and you can't just return that power easily.
