I tip 10% to 50% of my bill. That range is based on decent to excellent service AT MY TABLE. If you don’t provide atleast decent service you’ll find no tip. I will not tip a machine and I’m often reluctant to put the tip on the credit card receipt because I’m not positive it goes to the person providing me service. Usually tip cash handed to the person. I have zero problem informing a person they won’t receive a tip and why. They’ll either learn from it or they won’t. No way I’m giving a tip for anything other than PERSONal service. I do not use self checkouts. The only place I go that has them is Lowes but I always checkout with a person on the lumber end.

Haircut: $20-tip $5, sit-down eating establishment: Generally 5-$8 for two people. I've never received a tip and I've worked at Cattleman's, O'Meally's Cafeteria, Forum Cafeteria. Some elderly woman once pulled out some change and offered it to me if I'd check her husband to make sure he was alright in the restroom at O'Meally's but I refused out of courtesy.
These days everyone has to have their palm greased and it's usually for doing what they are supposed to do and already on the clock for pay.
