I received my Concealed Carry License yesterday! Since I needed some things from the store, I decided to do the “Walmart Walk” with my Glock 43 as a first concealed carry experience. As I understand it, this walk has become somewhat of a tradition among new concealed carriers.
I entered the store and found a nice long aisle that would get me to the back of the store where I needed to go for a couple of items. As I started down the aisle, I immediately noticed a deputy sheriff on the same aisle at the very back walking right toward me. As you can imagine, that aisle got a whole lot longer in my mind as we approached each other.
Haha, the crazy thoughts that went through my mind! Did I miss the “no firearms” sign? Am I not supposed to be doing this? Is the pistol showing? Is he looking at me suspiciously? Did someone alert him that I had a gun? Does he know I’m carrying? What if he stops me?
But, of course, the deputy sheriff wasn’t on that aisle because of me, and I was just experiencing first-timer’s jitters. It soon became obvious that this was my initiation to concealed handgun carry. I’m now more than ready for my second day. Thought I would share my rite of passage with you - thanks!
