The Volt is a failure to understand basic marketing principles. You don't sell nearly as many fuel efficient vehicles at $41K as you do at $20K. The Volt simply doesn't have what it takes to compete in that market segment. :(

I'm in a unique position to see the real Oklahoma economy and it's effect on the middle class. I own a business that sell directly to the middle class and relies on those middle class customers to have a little bit of money saved and some half decent credit. From where I sit, I can see that the middle class has been almost completely wiped out. Very few people have any money saved and almost nobody has enough credit to get a bank loan. My business is much tougher than it was 4 years ago. The only benefit I see is that I'm now working 50 hours a week instead of 70.

The only post I've read in this thread is the first one and the one just above mine. Sorry, guys, but I'm pretty sure I know what most of you said.

If the question had been "is the country better or worse off today than 4 years ago", I would have been much more interested in the results.

How I'm doing has almost nothing to do with the current administration or previous administration. If anything, your local government has more to do with how well you're doing than what is going on at the Fed level. In the last three years, I've tripled my salary and hustled my way up. The Feds had little to nothing to do with what I've been able to achieve. Now, once I do start getting into more entrepreneurial activities, then state level gov will probably have more to do with me than the fed level.
