One if the smartest things we ever did. When we paid off the house some years ago we started an "escrow" account of our own.
Monthly auto-deposits go in, to cover various recurring expenses - Property tax, house insurance, etc.
When the expense comes due, it's easy to transfer the money into the checking account and take care if it.

CONGRATULATIONS......I remember that feeling. Mother and I popped a cork on a bottle of champagne. Like has already been said put some back each month for taxes and insurance but now ya'll can breathe easier.
