I don't think he meant literal Lebanese. Consider that an "alternative" name for the cars is "Lesbarus" and you should get the picture.

Lebanese; and Israelis too. I was stationed over there mid80s and Subarus were the only Japanese cars there. Never really knew why, something about Toyota and Honda being anti-Israeli or something. Did see a Chevy Malibu circa mid 70s, I think, with a set of 1976 Wisconsin plates running around south of Beirut. Think it was stolen?
