While it is somewhat concerning, it's nowhere NEAR fukushima danger. 1.) It had been shut down prior to this. 2.) It still has power.

Edit: Keep on eye on this website http://mitnse.com/. If they say we have problems, we have problems. To date, though, they haven't even mentioned it.

I like to think I keep aware of the news, and this is the first I have seen of it. That says something, right there.

Thanks for the heads up.

The water level has crested 4 feet below the plant and started to recede.

The plant was shut down in april for refueling and maintenance so even if the power was cut it would have to stay off
for at least 88 hours before the spent fuel would overheat.

The only thing that has been questionable is a couple of days ago airspace over the plant was restricted for all commercial flights.

Thanks Larry.

And then there's the Cooper Nuclear plant that may be under a possible threat of flooding.

Neither article mentioned the fire at the nuke plant or the fact that airspace was closed over the plant, I posted this last week.

Airspace Over Flooded Nebraska Nuclear Power Plant Still Closed
A fire in Nebraska's Fort Calhoun nuclear power plant briefly knocked out the cooling process for spent nuclear fuel rods, ProPublica reports.

The fire occurred on June 7th, and knocked out cooling for approximately 90 minutes. After 88 hours, the cooling pool would boil dry and highly radioactive materials would be exposed.

On June 6th, the Federal Administration Aviation (FAA) issued a directive banning aircraft from entering the airspace within a two-mile radius of the plant.

Geez... This is kinda scary.

The worst part is that I wish I could believe we'd be told whether we were in danger or not so we could make preps. I doubt that would be the case though.
