The best used to be at County Line BBQ over off NE 63rd before it closed due to 0bamacare. I heard it re-opened with new owners but I doubt they still have the same thing. You could only get this beast on certain days of the week as a special. It was hand-battered, premium meat; boy I miss it!:

The Osage casino at Ponca has a monster chicken fry.
Tenderized round steak, hand breaded and deep fried.
The half order will cover most of a 10" plate.
I've never seen how big a full order is.
This makes me hungry!

If you guys are ever in Tulsa, try The Brook:

There are other good ones out there, like Savoy, Nelson's (and their Ranch House), Ollie's, Shiloh's..... I think the Brook does it best.

I miss Cheever's in OKC though. Best in OKC I thought. Kendall's was OK but I only tried it when it was in Norman (on N. Berry I think?). I never cared for the Chuck House honestly; I'd rather go to Del Rancho before I went there :/

I had no idea County Line closed. I have not been there in about 5yrs or so. I used to eat there at least once a year. It was my birthday destination when I was yonger.

Thanks for posting Tulsa area chicken fried steak places. I love me some chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy.

So, let's get this straight. A restaurant shuts its doors in Nov of 2010 due to cost they won't incur for two more years. Cost so burdensome that hundreds of other restaurants have managed to stay open.

"Harper said a combination of the recession and impending health care package caused the owner to close down the Oklahoma City location. The County Line Restaurants in Texas and New Mexico are all staying open.

"A lot of our big December parties last year canceled and some of our longtime business patrons did not book their Christmas parties either," Harper said. "We depend on those parties to get us through the slow months and this time we were not able to recover from the 'trickle down' effect."

Add to that an expensive upgrade to their computer system, a new paint job, and new roof on the annex, and the restaurants costs exceeded the money being brought in."

Obamacare had nothing to do with the restaurants closing.

If i recall, the owner was quoted in a news story at the time suggesting it had something to do with it...seems like it was channel 9 but i can't remember. None, the less, I could have just been joking but you are always in the mood for debate :)
