About 20 years ago I had something similar. Went down my right arm, hand would go numb. Arm would have spasms. Terrible pain in my neck and shoulder. Went to Bone and Joint Hospital, physical therapy, drugs, etc. Nothing helped, finally went to a Chiropractor, and within two weeks I had immense relief. I missed 6 weeks work while that was going on, couldn't lay flat on the bed, slept in the recliner all that time.

I feel for ya bud....Heat does give some relief.

If it's just a matter of you slept wrong and pinched the nerves (as opposed to degenerative disks or broken vertebra) you might consider a chiropractor. I've got similar issues that run along my entire bloody back. I could give you the laundry list of what ails me, but I'm sure noone wants that. ;) At any rate, there's a good chiropractor in Guthrie who was able to stop the pain first visit. It came back but it's better every trip.

I went to see him after trying conventional avenues with a normal MD. Pills and heat just did me no good.

I had the same problem.

Neck surgery. Next day everything was gone except where they cut my neck open. Had to wear a C-collar for a month after that.

I have had nerve pain for many years. Partly from a degenerative problem but also from work related activities like sledgehammers etc. Gabepentin is one prescription that works well but does not have the side affects of Lyrica.

Also, a trip to a good Doctor of Osteopathy would do wonders. If interested, send a PM and I will give you the name of the one that I go to.

My wife has a "corn pillow" that she puts in the microwave for about 2 minutes, and then lays it under the pain area. She swears by it, not a cure, but helps with pain in the short run.

Me too. About 14 years ago. Had three ruptured discs in my neck, and the worst part was where they cut into my darned old hip to get bone to make new discs to replace the bad ones with. (They have new things now; artificial discs and so on that weren't available back then). But, it was to the point that my right arm was almost useless and the surgery fixed me right up. Well; wait a minute, maybe the worst part was that damned neck collar I had to wear...six weeks in the thing for me. Sucked. But am okay now!

Dave, I had a radiograph neurotomy on c2 and c3 and maybe c4 on Wednesday morning. I have been completely headache-free since before I got up off the table. The last time I was without some form of a headache and/or neck pain was in March last year. It is so nice to wake up and my first thought be "OMG I feel great" as opposed to "OMG where are those pain pills" ... My vision is starting to not be so blurry also.

While you may not have the same problem I did if a neurotomy will help put off (or completely put off) having a fusion done for you that would be wonderful. My doc was telling me that this was her last thing to try before considering fusing my neck.

Good luck man ... I'm praying for you.

Exactly!

It really started after I went to the chiropractor. When I went in, I just had a stiff neck. After a few adjustments, pain shot across my neck/back, to my shoulder, down my arm. I won't be going to the chiropractor again.

I have had a few motorcycle wrecks, a long time ago. One of them involved me taking out part of an SUV with my left chest/arm/collar bone. I didn't break any bones. I think I might be some sort of badass. Anyway, I have always had neck (mostly on the left side) problems after that one.

My sister pulled some strings, and the specialist is gonna see me Monday AM. Originally, I was gonna have to wait 'til the 7th of next month, then the 31st of this one. I think Mary must be in the mob or something. I don't care what they have to do to fix me, as long as it's soon.
