I am no fan of his politics, but he was a good man who had a utopian vision of the world. He truly believed that if we (mankind) could sincerely work together for a better world, we could create that better world. He was an advocate for peace and loved his fellow man.
I don't agree with his stances on a lot of issues, and I believe his opinion of man was far too high. We are too rotten a species to ever live in harmony.
He also wrote a lot of great songs, both protest and otherwise.
