i know i should be used to it after all this time, but these threads never cease to amazing me. I cannot get over how some seem to revel in the death of others.

I don't like these threads either. The blood lust seem to be a way for some to express their ultra mericanism.

I celebrate his right to voice his opinion. Thank goodness he lived in a country where he could do that. The political system he advocated wouldn't allow that, I don't believe. Go ahead and crank up Springsteen's Born In The USA, he was a big Seeger fan, too.

There were about 100 million folks I could've asked, but they died under communist rule during Mr. Seeger's lifetime. I guess I'll just have to rely on the words of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, and others that witnessed how well that system worked out. Maybe Pol Pot, or Chairman Mao would be good sources, too.
Unless you have some special insight that you'd like to share, RH?
Interesting comment since you have previously admitted you are an admirer of Vladimir Putin.

That's a fact, and I still wish we had a leader dedicated to OUR country, like Putin is to his.

Seeger sang his songs, pushed for "social justice" (which means play like we want you to or the State will force you).
He worked (successfully) to implement socialist ideals here -in our country.

Putin is a commie, ex-KGB, no less. If he was an American, I'd fight him tooth and nail to keep his commie politics out of our country. What I do see out of Putin is a clear vision of what he deems fit for his country, and he acts on it. Interesting to note that on social issues, he's much more in line with our "conservatives" here in the U.S.
Even ol' Pete Seeger wouldn't like Putin's Russia right now.
Now if we had a leader that espoused American sovereignty, and stuck to our ideas of freedom and liberty, without the coercion of the State against its own people, that would be someone to support.

Putin, last of the cold warriors and seeking to recreate the soviet union, has become the worlds richest man by siphoning off the wealth of his country.

On a salary of less than $200,000 a year he has amassed a fortune of between 50 - 70 billion dollars through graft and corruption.
The mess that is the Sochi olympics is only the latest of his schemes to enrich himself and friends.

He retains power by jailing any politician who poses a credible chance of beating him in an election and his prisons are choc full of political prisoners.

I can see why you might be enamored with him though.
He does have the dreamiest eyes.... don't ya think?
...and those muscles..

I haven't really put as much thought into his eyes and muscles, I'm just not geared that way, I guess.
So you're accusing Putin of doing what communists do, and defending Pete Seeger, who wanted (and did help to) to bring communism to the USA?
Awesome!
