No one is forcing anyone to buy lunches from the school.

If you can only bring the swill that the gubberment requires, is that not forcing one to use the school lunch program?

Are there substitute foods that can be brought by the kids more palatable to them that meet the guidelines?

My kids are long gone from the system. Just a question.

The 'confiscation and replacement' procedure is greatly over exaggerated here. There are no lunch lady cops inspecting lunchpails, nor would any of them trash anything.

Seriously. No one is going to draw fire over trashing a kid's lunch and forcing them to buy anything.

There is a responsibility to make sure a child is fed some food. Lots of kids in OK eat only school lunches, because their parents don't care. If a kid routinely brings only a bag of chips and a coke for lunch, the school can choose to supplement it. The child has to ask for it, though. This policy extends to grade school only, not middle or high school.
