That is the post I was referring to, and in it, he is saying over 500 superintendents at $200,000 in that second paragraph. Doesn't sound like he's saying "average" at all. That is why I questioned him over there, but he hasn't responded as of yet.
True, but by picking a single number he is implicitly using that number to represent what we all know (and have discussed here) to be a range of numbers. Thus making it a representational average. I have no idea if $200k is the mathematical average.
I agree that he should have started off his "math" by stating his assumptions. IE:
"For easy math, assume 500 superintendents and $200k average salary."
