What handgun do you carry in the field?

Smith and Wesson Governor.

Usually a Colt Woodsman, but also a bunch of others. I can definitely say a Colt's Walker is not a good choice for long walks.

Running the trap line tonight, I had the S&W K22 Masterpiece.
Deer hunting, I'll have the Kimber Stainless target II, in .45ACP, Ruger Super Redhawk in .44 mag, or the new S&W 25-5 in .45LC.

All have taken deer, with the Kimber also taking two bobcats that wandered under the stand.

What is the average distance you have taken deer with the handguns?

Glock 21 with a Streamlite and an extra magazine. I learned my lesson several years ago when I got jumped at night by pack of feral hogs when I was dragging a kill back to my truck.
