I would in a minute if I knew the people. When we were growing up my mom got a new car and they weren't gonna give her anything on the
old dodge van we had. Instead of selling it she gave it to some freinds, they had two vehicles and worked, but one was a two seater and the
other was a single cab pickup. This made raising a family of five much easier for this family.

I personally have never given a vehicle away, but I have given guns several times

I have given away 2 cars and a truck. All to people that really had a greater need for them then me. They weren't anything fancy to look at but they were all in very good mechanical shape. That act of giving didn't just bless them but blessed me even more.

Those 3 people were all working as hard and as much as they humanly could. Sometimes people just need a little help. I am currently working on getting vehicle #4 ready to give away.

I feel if someone can't afford to buy a cheap car, they can't afford the expense and insurance to own one. We don't need another non insured driver on the streets.

I survived a year without a car while working for the state. Bicycle or foot only, including walking to work during the blizzard last Dec. I couldn't afford a cheap car til tax time.

I lost a job in OKC back in the early 90s when my car crapped out. It was night-shift, so no joy with public transit from Del City to NW OKC. Ineligible for UI since I'm responsible for getting to work. So I found a Circle K I could walk to and worked there. Got robbed my 3rd week.
Our economy is collapsing and you will see more & more hard times overtake Americans at all levels. I worry about the folks who have never experienced hard times and have no idea how to cope and are not prepped.

I tried this with three kids. Its not a recipe for success.

On the other hand, the single mothers out there that work but can't make ends meet that have no car is another matter. In such cases yes.

If I owed money on it, no. Years ago I had a '79 Grand Prix and an 80' CJ7, both paid off. I loaned the Grand Prix to a friend for close to a year.

Secret bunker in an undisclosed location.
I've sold a few to relatives for prices that were as good as giving them away. Last one was to my wife's brother. The rest of the time he owned it he bitched about things that were wrong with it and how bad I had screwed him even though I had gone over all the issues it had with extreme detail. Of course the BB value was about $2500 and we sold it to him for $300. No good deed goes unpunished.

I think reliable transportation is a huge issue for many folks that are trying to get by. One of my charity dreams is to be able to "give" reliable transportation with insurance for 1 year to those who could use it to get on their feet.

I have given a number of cars to relatives in the past, it always helped.

Thanks for doing that. Sometimes people just need a little bit of help to get over that one rough spot in life.
