I was out at Baker St a few months ago with some friends. I think Imzadi was playing. It seems like a nice place and there were definitely some attractive women out there on the dance floor.

Ya Imzadi is supposed to be good, I've never seen them though. I've been to Baker St. before... more of a club/party atmosphere than I'm looking for I think.

I'm staying away from attractive women... I evidently am unable to sort the crazy ones from the sane ones (if any exist).

You should check out Yellow Brick Road then.

HA! ok you got me... I went and google'd it.

I didn't mean staying away from them like THAT!

I'm sure one will come along at some point that is sparkly enough to gain my attention. I'm just going to be a very wary investor.

Arnies has some great bands sometimes. Also Mercury Lounge will pull in some good ones too. The Colony used to but it seemed like they went to indie rock.

Arnie's, Crystal Pistol, Soundpony, & Back Alley BBQ are where I usually catch local bands. Hey Judy, Johnny Badseed & the Rotten Apples, and The Dulldrums are some good local talent.

I'm gonna throw a nod out for my brother-in-laws band. They're called Able The Allies. I've only got to see them perform once, but I really enjoyed their show. I don't really know how to describe their sound, but it was Rock influenced. Maybe with a light Pop influence. I know you asked about places and there's a few I can think of.... Magoos. I'm not sure what kind of bands are playing there, but I've seen a good variety of Grunge, Metal and Classic Rock cover bands there. Full Moon Cafe usually has something going on. On the weekends they have a dueling piano show that's pretty good. One of the pianist's is blind. Gray Snail Saloon sometimes has a band, but it's usually a DJ and it tends to be a twenty something crowd on the weekends. There's a few places downtown like Arnie's and Woody's. Those are both in the Blue Dome District. There's a few places over in the Brady District, but I'm unsure on names. Good Luck on finding a spot to chill. I was gone for a year or so and now I don't get out anymore so I'm kinda out of date.

Lots of bars in Tulsa have live music - if not every night then quiet often. Check the online schedules of the joints listed to see whose playing when. The Hunt Club has a lot of noise coming from their little patio thing when I pass by lately. Never caught an act there but it's one I didn't see listed in this thread so you might do a scouting mission.

Of Cave's recs, I second The Pistol. When they have a decent show it's a worth going as the crowds are always cool and friendly. I vowed never to go in The Pony again; mainly because the crowd there reminds me of my high school cafeteria. And one of the few times I've been the doorman was wearing capri pants - 'nough said. The Pistol crowds are way friendlier/less-douchey and the staff is usually cool.

One of the only joints in town to regularly feature heavy stuff is The Downtown Lounge (old Deadtown building). I've caught some really good shows and lost a bit of hearing there. Crowd and staff are awesome - but you should note it's certainly not a great place to meet wimmenz - or take a woman unless your certain she's a rocker/punker type.

I'd go out more if there was some places that weren't a smoke-fest. I know bars and smoking go hand-in-hand but these days I don't care to spend much time in that environment. Sound like a crusty old dude? Yep, probably.

I tend to agree with you. I understand it's part of the deal usually though...

I have to wash clothes anyway, but the worst is what it does to my allergies.

Probably twice a year tops I'll end up with some buddies at Night Trips and come home smelling like cigarette smoke and whatever that scent is that seems to be worn by every stripper nationwide. What is that stuff anyway? Sure wish I had thought of it. I could be living the high life on some beach in the Caribbean right now. :hot:
