I’m getting tired of averaging two grocery store trips to find my creamer. This last week I was making chili. The girlfriend likes to eat her chili like a frito chili pie, so I went to go grab some Fritos. Three grocery stores and two gas stations later I finally found some. And it was the only bag in the entire gas station. Has frito discontinued regular corn chips? The same thing happened the last two times I tried to make chili, one of those times she just had to go without.

I’m not one to wear the tin foil hat, but it honestly does feel like there’s some manipulation going on. I prefer to buy most of my groceries from one of two Asian super markets or the Mexican super market. There’s never any shortages, the produce is still the same quality. That quality is better than the best produce in Walmart, crest, or homeland had 2-3 years ago, and I’ve noticed the quality drop from mediocre to dismal in the past two years. At the ethnic supermarkets there’s no shortages of meat or eggs or anything. I do think part of that is because those ethnicities keep large amounts of staples on hand, and don’t need to go crazy at the supermarket. I only have to go to the regular grocery stores for a few white people groceries (creamer, cheap eggs, heavy whipping cream, breakfast sausage, bagels/bread etc) and that’s when I have to go to 2 or 3 places to find my stuff.

What's interesting is that I go to WM and they have so many empty spots on their shelves but I go to Save-A-Lot and they're pretty well stocked most of the time.

I think the issue mentioned earlier about the employees filling online orders has a lot to do with it. At least here I see many of those and rarely see anyone stocking.

Sometimes you can't even get down the aisles because there will be two or more with those big carts blocking the way.

Which Mexican super market? Always went to Grider's on SW 29th with my mother-in-law. Funny how these 'tough' guys in their tricked out pickups blasting out local music would stop immediately when an abuela was crossing the street or needed to get by. Been at least 10 years but back then they respected the older ladies and Marina would just look at them if doing something stupid and they'd look away! Might have been the only way a pigmentally challenged okie could get by in that store without being lynched especially given my very limited Spanish.

Neither the wife nor I drink beer but we always keep some on hand. It's that bread thing. We sometimes stir in some shredded cheese before we pop it in the oven, too.

The boss lady is a non drinker, but I will confess to an occasional small glass of red wine when she makes spaghetti.

I will tell her about the shredded cheese thing!

super cao nguyen is the cheapest i can get most things next to sam's. some stuff at super cao nguyen is absurdly cheaper than at normie markets. if you are buying anything asian at a normie store, you are paying waaayyyyy too much for waaaaay too little. cao nguyen carries quantities of stuff you can't find anywhere else, most likely because all the asian restaurants buy their stuff from them. so you can get stuff like soy sauce, fish sauce, sesame oil, curry paste, etc for literally pennies on the dollar compared to anywhere else.

and the meat and produce is usually very good.
