How long has the 38 Super been around, how long does it last and what is it's CUP's?

IIRC:
38 Super = 35,700 CUP's
10MM = 37,500 CUP's

Ah, the 38 Super. My very first semi automatic pistol. I think IIRC that the round originated for mexico, some law down south said the police/people could not use a military round like 9mm or .45ACP, so the 38 super came to be in the late 1920's.... I could be all wrong on this one, my mind ain't what it used to be ya know...

That parallels my memory as well. Also IIRC, I heard that they even made a few Thompson SMG's in the 38 Super as well.

Thats what the gunsmith is for.lol I agree Colt has been lost for some time, but right now they are putting out some of their best stuff. You can pick yp a older Delta for around $900, then spend as much as you want for the work.
If Colt is putting out the very best stuff, why should it be sent to a smith for improvement?
Not bashing Colt, but if its your best with their history of fine guns. WTF?

PS If I had the bucks :rolleyes2 :nono2:, I think I would lean to the 6" Nighthawk.

I am going to have to play gun snob on this one, normally I am very open minded when it comes to brands of guns, but in the 1911 platform, I prefer higher end pistols. Not necessarily really expensive but a bit more than $575 for a 1911 of any caliber new. I might be missing out on the best thing since single barrel bourbon, but in my mind Macarthur is still in the Philippines and they are still a third world Country. Kind of like Brazil and all their millions of production guns. Not for me. YMMV

I find it amusing that the cyclic sales of guns goes from 9mm to 40, to 45 to 10mm.
The 9MM with modern ammo is better than a 105 howitzer!!!!!
The .45 is junk. (hint....the same higher technology for a 9mm is applied to other calibers.)
The 9MM will blow an arm off in one shot.
Just some thoughts.....carry on.
