I don't see this ending well in an armed conflict.
Do you see it ending worse than an incident involving active shooter in a school with no one to stop him?
I don't see it ending well regardless.
I think it would take some special kind of mental training/conditioning to accept that you may have to shoot a child, even if they are threatening others.
I'd rather have a bullet in front of me than frontal lobotomy. To paraphrase...

Make it like a sky marshal. Nobody but the principal knows who the armed employee is, so they won't be the first one targeted by an active shooter.
I work in the schools and I have my CCW. I won't be requesting this authorization.
There isn't any sort of training you can ever take to prepare you to kill someone.
Would you care to share your reasoning?
The military does quite well at it.
