Proposed state budget allocations for FY 2017

Sorry if already posted, just thought some may not have seen it. Some numbers that make me raise an eyebrow, especially the $9M+ budget increase for the Legislative Services Bureau. What do they do?

The respective committee staffs in the Oklahoma House of Representatives and Oklahoma Senate do all legislative research on the request of Oklahoma Legislators and their staff. The Oklahoma Legislative Service Bureau operates the Legislative Information Service. The LSB is responsible for producing all computer and information processing services for members and staff of the Oklahoma Legislature."

Some numbers that make me raise an eyebrow, especially the $9M+ budget increase for the Legislative Services Bureau. What do they do?

Are they like craft services on a movie set? Basically provide coffee and doughnuts and food while the Legislature is in session.

I've known some people who have worked for a similar group for the US Congress. Often they are the ones that put together more detailed reports about stuff that a congressman might request. Often involving statistical analysis that a congressman's staffer might not be qualified to work up.
