Ok anybody ever notice going into post office the sign saying "No Concealed Firearms" ? Guess you could open carry??
Wiley Post is not federalized, so TSA rules don't apply. The only thing TSA regulates at general aviation airports are Part 135 charters over 12,500 lbs, and Initial, Instrument and Multi-Engine Land flight training.
Looks like it doesn't it?OK. I have to question whether that sign is "truly" at the south end of Wiley Post airport.
If it says it on the internet, it has to be true.OK. I have to question whether that sign is "truly" at the south end of Wiley Post airport.
I don't believe the airport general ticketing area are off-limits, are they? Like in Tulsa, you can carry until you get to the security checkpoints? So you can carry to see people off at ticketing up to security, or in the baggage claim to pick people up, right? Correct me if I am wrong...
I'm also curious the answer to this. The airport is owned by the city, but operated by the Tulsa Airport Authority and/or Tulsa Airports Improvement Trust (a "component unit" of the City), who then sublease it out to all the various tenants. Since it's gov-owned, I would be led to believe the entire building is then off-limits for carry, given 21 § 1277 A 1. But I'll await a more informed opinion.

The Tulsa Airports Improvement Trust is now a completely separate operational entity from the City of Tulsa. The Tulsa International Airport (TUL) terminal is currently posted with "gunbuster" signs on the public side (adjacent to the curb). To date I am unaware of any citations being issued for the state charge unlawful carry on the public side (land side in airport-speak). There have been numerous citations issued on the air side, which is what happens when someone carries a firearm into the security checkpoint.
I do not know if TAIT will enforce those gunbuster signs on the public side and since no citations have been issued there, I'm unaware of any state preemption test cases on it. Due to the sensitive nature of my position there, I have a strictly "no comment" policy on the legality of posting the public side of the TUL terminal.
Caveat Emptor
Understood, and I was hoping you would chime in. Essentially, it's not illegal, it sounds like - so 'concealed is concealed'. Just don't try to go through security with a gun, or any ammo. I once had a .22 round in my backpack I found as I was cleaning it out to pack for a trip - that coulda gotten 'interesting' at the security checkpoint had I not found it in advance.

LOL, I feel you. Honestly, a round or two isn't a big deal. We remember that we're in Oklahoma after all.
