There is a difference in an ex parte hearing like a red flag law (the subject doesn't know about it or get to be present) and a regular hearing that you get to present your side. If you have had a chance to present your case to the judge about why you are not a danger to others and they still rule that you are, then you should lose the guns for a set amount of time. That being said you should be able to appeal. It should definitely not be permanent barring a violent felony conviction. It's too easy to screw someone over permanently, in a single hearing, to make it a forever ban.

Airliner hijacking were rampant, all over the world, for decades!! All efforts by all nations, failed miserably, REMEMBER? Then 9/11/2001 happened and there has not been even one attempted takeover type airliner hijacking sense, WHY IS THAT? Could it be ALL, would be hijackers KNOW without any doubt, that no passenger, anywhere, will ever again set idly by and be flown into a building, EVER AGAIN, no matter how the hijacker is armed!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is there a lesson here? If mass KILLINGS by spoiled brats, seeking attention, ever stop, WE THE PEOPLE WILL HAVE TO DECIDE NEVER AGAIN, AND STOP THEM!!! JUST ONE EXAMPLE OF A SPOILED BRAT PUNK BEING LITERALLY TORN APART FOR ATTEMPTING TO MURDER OUR KIDS, AND MADE AS PUBLIC AS THE NEWS MEDIA MAKE THE PUNKS, AND THAT WOULD BE THE LAST MASS KILLING WE EVER HAVE!!

So now, Piers Morgan is on Hannity swaking about how he has been so beat up by Americans because the mass shootings are an American issue in his opinion because of his accent. The britts take away all the guns and mass shootings do not exist. Really? He hasn't' read much history evidently.
Hannity, politely put him in his place and explained very well why Americans do need guns in the home. IMHO he should have went much further and said it was to protect America against people like Piers Morgan.
So Piers Morgan is on the 5 tonight on FOX talking about how England is so safe because not even the criminals have guns. Once again his history needs some help. He starts in again with his gun control rant, and Judge Jennine says we got the right to those weapons because of his country and its king. He got slammed so bad by everyone on that panel that it was laughable.

Red flag has become a hot button issue, but at some point, an “intervention” for someone who is exhibiting irrational or psychotic behavior is just logical and prudent.
That intervention has to meet some incredibly high bar before happening. Not just a mad ex-wife saying he wants to shoot up the school.
That should start an investigation, not get the red flag. The high bar would be required to be met by professional mental health and medical health professionals?
The problem using those people is that they are college trained and typically not firearm people. They are the opposite wanting gun control as instilled in their college studies and professors so their red flag opinions may be biased.
So, how would it be made fair to the accused?

I don’t believe that a process can be developed that would satisfy the people wanting it, and still provide “true due process”. The concept sounds like a great idea, until you start looking at all the ways it would be misused. It might take a year before every gun owner was found to be a potential threat.

And of course the Democrats are calling for more gun control already without even knowing what happened, how it happened, or who did it.

THEY DONT CARE what, how, who or why.
Cackling Spread Eagle told the Senate, "the shooter has a history of mental issues. This PROVES a need for a ban on ARs and high capacity mags."

Reported azzhat carried an AK-47 (?????), has history of mental illness and threatening shooting up a public building. Yet, AR and mags are to blame? Typical libturd logic.

Best reply for Piers Morgan, "we through idiots like you out, once before. We need to do it, again."

I think it is the latter. Crazy people are gonna be crazy and occasionally do horrible things, regardless of what is going on in our nation or the world. What changes is that occasionally somebody needs a flashy headline on a slow news day, or was told they have an agenda to push.
I agree with this 100%. It is all about driving an agenda with what they publish. We could be talking about Detroit or Chicago every day but the news doesn’t. Detroit and Chicago would surpassed the amount of fatalities in this one incident almost on a daily basis.

They don’t wanna talk about black on black violence and fatalities. But we get a white guy killing people and they sensationalize it.

It’s about controlling the narrative. Crazy white people and evil guns

There's market for legit news too and a fortune to be made from it, yet nobody will step up do it.

This isn’t gonna be a popular opinion around here, but while I do believe that there is some agenda being pushed, I feel like the majority of what we see is plain capitalism at its worst. Sensationalism and driving emotions gain views, Views get advertising dollars, advertising dollars pay employees, fill executives stock portfolios, and reinforce bottom lines. I feel like the majority of media is just trying to make a buck. Advertising dollars and societal emotions decide how that news is portrayed.
