What Congress needs to do is pull any and all authority of the BATFE (and all other alphabet agencies for that matter) to make rulings that have the weight of law. If something needs to be made illegal or controlled, then the agency in question should be required to present ALL the facts for and against something to congress and ask that a law be passed. With stiff penalties for committing the crime of sedition by the authors of the request if information is false or excluded. Might want to drop that suggestion in with the letters to our reps.
Online electronic petitions are less worthless than the time it took someone to to slap the copy pasta into coffee cup and upload it to the web server. Contact your rep's and the BATFE, do it politely, and respectfully, but be succinct when making your point.
Considering "protecting police by getting rid of armor-piercing bullets" is part of Obama's plan to make our children and communities safer, I feel signing a petition on whitehouse.gov is akin to pissing into the wind.
