I gave away the car that I had listed in the classifieds here,

I already gotten my new car as a early christmas present, in the couple weeks prior I had noticed a middle-aged woman like in her 30's walking down the street with 2 small children everyday to take them to babysitter and then she would go to work, everytime I would drive by, I would give them a ride, I live out in the country and so did she, so she would walk a little over 4 miles 1 way to work. Once I got my new car I posted the old one here, and after about 2 weeks I still had it, so one day I was headed out and sure enough I saw them, it took about a hour of convincing her but she finally accepted my gift. I am just happy that her kids are not gonna have to be out walking in the cold anymore

Is no one else disturbed by the fact that he thinks a woman "like in her 30's" is middle-aged? :buttkick: Yes I am off topic...

In the past I have given away two running cars to families that needed them. Currently have two vehicles and would not give one away. One is a daily driver truck and the other is a classic car.

I agree with other who have concerns about the recipient being able to register the vehicle in their name and affording the insurance to drive it.
In the past I did get parking tickets on a vehicle I sold a year prior because the person never registered it in their name - never again.

If you are 30 or over, it is considered young. hahaha
If you are 22, you probably haven't considered it at all, but it will creep up on you just like it did the rest of us.
It was nice of you to give her the car though.

I gave a truck to a co-worker that had no transportation. I had to sink some money in it to make it road worthy. It made me feel good. :woohoo1:

A week later, I heard from another employee he was trying to sell it for retail. I asked him about it and he lied to me. That made me angry.

From then on, I offer trucks for free, but they all need work. No turnkeys.
I haven't had anyone take me up on a "needs work" beater. They decide they don't need it so bad after all.

pfft I'd love to get a vehicle for free - some people out there are crazy. Then again you offered to let me try and snatch a few parts and I never got with you on that. That is my fault.

I couldn't agree more. Just yesterday I was 21 and was celebrating being legal. When and where did 13 years go, crazy.

Short answer: No. I like what I have and they are fairly unique.

That said, I've offered and let friends and family the use (indefinite sometimes) of a vehicle so long as I believed they would care for it and not abuse it.

Sold my first car to my youngest brother for lunch and a bag of oil-absorb. He wrapped it around a tree a couple of months later doing something he shouldn't have been. Still thankful for the tree, as there was a house behind it.

The offer is still open, but I suggest we go out there when it's a little warmer.
