As a 2A proponent we must find some sensible common ground on gun control to prevent those who have no business owning a gun from buying one. However that will accomplish nothing absent significant action dealing with persons who have a history of mental instability and/or who have made prior violence and death threats in any manner. Lastly until we, as a society, can learn to respect human life again no change will have any significant impact. I cannot believe we are incapable of not doing this to innocents over and over.
good and well put.

This stuff will just continue to get worse. And each time the government will tighten its noose around our necks. The more times this happens the more people will start to feel like we need to “do something”. I’ve heard some on this very forum talk about it. Even support for red flags laws (if done right). There is NO way of doing them right.

Our government is not interested in protecting us. Actually, that isn’t their job, just like it isn’t the polices’ job. It is up to us to protect ourselves. And when our kids are in school it’s up to the teachers and staff to keep them safe. But they don’t. Every single staff member in a school should be able to carry a gun. Just like we should be able to when we go into a school. But no, that is too unsafe. A kid might get hurt. Nevermind the fact that a nut job can go into a school and have free reign of it.

Our government has neutered the vast majority of our population with fear. If you are caught with a gun in a school you face going to prison and paying a huge fine. Why do you think the penalty is so bad? It’s worse than some pretty serious crimes. It’s to control us with fear. And it has worked like a charm. Schools will continue to be shooting galleries. Our government has no plans to get rid of gun free zones. Because they don’t care about protecting kids, they care about power and control.

And I would like to speak on the matter that this could be orchestrated by the government. I suggest folks look up how governments have treated their people in the past. Ours is no different. It is full of corrupt and evil people. They will do ANYTHING to gain more money and power. They know the 2A is the only thing standing in their way. Don’t think for one second they wouldn’t do this. We have a government that is actively trying to destroy this nation. They hate it. And they have ways to manipulate and control peoples’ minds. We don’t even comprehend the things that our government can do. Do you realize a scientist was able to use “brain hacking” to be able to tell a bull to stop and go by the push of a button? This was in the 60’s! Just think of what our government is able to do now. And if you think I’m full of crap, look it up. It’s true.

I’m sorry but there is no “sensible common ground on gun control”. I always love when folks start off by saying they support the 2A and then go off talking about how we need more gun control. We need NO gun control. Do you think making it where certain people can’t have guns will work? Oh wait, we already have that. What about making murder illegal? Oh wait, it already is. There is a much bigger issue at play than an inanimate object.

You lost me with the first sentence. You can‘t be a 2A proponent and see “gun” control as any kind of a solution to what’s happened today. The only people affected by govt “gun control” is law abiding citizens. People that commit acts like happened today don’t follow the laws already on the books or they wouldn’t be going on school campuses and shooting little kids.
There are bad people in the world, and another “law” isn’t going to stop them from doing bad things.
For a long time I felt as you do. Your lost me comment is part of what is wrong with society. No one is willing to give at all. I never said take guns from legal law abiding gun owners. Never will say that. I do feel that too many who should not own guns do and mental health issues and violence threats are valid reason to say you lost your right to own a gun. I certainly am a 2A proponent just one who is less radical and fixed on not compromising than you.
