Ok it’s 2022 now y’all, not 1992… “dope” now refers hard drugs (meth/heroine/etc) no longer marijuana.

Federal legalization will eventually happen, is inevitable. Especially with the major push for government to cater to “people of color” (who often point out that the federal war on marijuana was in fact racist in its conception).

Also, just because some of us defend it and are pro legalization doesn’t make us “cheech and chongers” or “dope heads” who lie on federal forms... It just makes us pro freedom and pro individual choice.

I do agree that morals and clean living is much needed in this country. We are indeed descending into a hedonistic and often disgusting culture. But I believe those issues are fixed within the home. Not by the federal government telling uncle Jim Bob that he can’t smoke a joint after work.
The question on the form is pretty simple. You either answer it truthfully or you don’t. The question of whether or not it should be on the form is a separate issue.
Let me ask this question. If you owned a business and you had 2 applicants of equal skills, 1 smokes dope and 1 doesn’t. Would you consider that in your hiring choice?

No it isn’t. I guess you think you have the right to use cocaine and heroin as well? I mean freedom is freedom right? Maybe you should take a class and see how laws are enacted. We wouldn’t be having a vote if weed was legal now. So in the meantime, those who want it have to lie about their medical need for it. They also lie if they purchase a firearm and use weed. As I have said already, it’s a morality issue. Some people have none.

Well it depends. I’d say be punctual/reliable, NO: driving to work stoned, no being high at work, no joints on lunchtime! Etc… However if a person responsibly smokes in their home to wind down in the evening, the same way many folks do with a couple beers, then I could care less.

I just find it a little harsh to have the attitude that there is no way a person can responsibly enjoy cannabis, and that anyone who uses it is automatically an idiot or terrible person.

I think a large portion of the population agrees with me, hence the trend toward nation wide relaxing of marijuana laws.

How about Steve Jobs? Carl Sagan? These guys don't amount to much compared to the cheap seats of OSA but....

That's a loaded question. If they are smoking "dope", I'm gonna assume it's Weed and not hard drugs. There has to be context.

I've met dudes who are choirboys, but I wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire. I've met dudes who were shrubs and I'd give them my last dollar.

That said, if the only qual was they had the same skillset and one smokes weed and the other doesn't (My question is how do I know that because that's presumed confidential), I'd take the dude who smoked...because he's honest by telling me he smokes weed.

As Jev said it all depends on context. Most things in life are not so black-and-white.. lots of gray area and nuance.

But if you are wanting a short answer I would say most of the time I would choose the person who did not smoke. Especially if the smoking individual is deep into the stoner culture. I can’t stand the potheads who constantly stay high and live sloppy lives either man.

I’m just saying that what this is about is that people are realizing there is a percentage of the population who use cannabis responsibly who are not idiot potheads.

By the way I do own my own business. I’m a residential construction contractor. I’ve never had more than four employees. I’m small time, but I deal with a lot of subcontractors too. Obviously in construction there are plenty of druggies drunks and potheads… I will say this every time though, I would hire a pot smoker over a damn alcoholic any day of the week
