look, we all know that unfortunately lone wolf crime is basically unstoppable in a free society.
the only thing you can ask for is brave enough people to risk their lives to stop it.
the reality is, if you monitor twitter and reddit you find threats being made CONSTANTLY. 4chan and kiwifarms even moreso. if you start locking up people for making online threats, everyone is going to jail.
but everyone is already in jail so that doesn't work. obviously planning a specific attack versus a generic "all x should die" comment is a little different, but i only see erosions of speech and liberty in response to events that will occur despite law and order.
there's also a decent amount of data that suggests a lot of lone wolf attackers don't leave any info or manifesto or make comments. in fact, given the sheer amount of these comments and threats, it's obvious that MOST people who make threats DON'T end up going on killing sprees.
this was brought up earlier when a user here had his wife's workplace threatened. specific threats are certainly more of a "lets look into this" than saying BURN IT DOWN like literally millions of people did two summers ago.
