Here we go again, another school shooting. This time in Texas

look, we all know that unfortunately lone wolf crime is basically unstoppable in a free society.
the only thing you can ask for is brave enough people to risk their lives to stop it.

the reality is, if you monitor twitter and reddit you find threats being made CONSTANTLY. 4chan and kiwifarms even moreso. if you start locking up people for making online threats, everyone is going to jail.

but everyone is already in jail so that doesn't work. obviously planning a specific attack versus a generic "all x should die" comment is a little different, but i only see erosions of speech and liberty in response to events that will occur despite law and order.

there's also a decent amount of data that suggests a lot of lone wolf attackers don't leave any info or manifesto or make comments. in fact, given the sheer amount of these comments and threats, it's obvious that MOST people who make threats DON'T end up going on killing sprees.


this was brought up earlier when a user here had his wife's workplace threatened. specific threats are certainly more of a "lets look into this" than saying BURN IT DOWN like literally millions of people did two summers ago.

Literally just confirmed by TX DPS Spokesman Victor Escalon:

11:28 suspect wrecked in ditch with NO prior engagement.
11:30 911 call
11:40 suspect enters school, after firing shots between the ditch and school building
11:44 local officers make entry into school and are repelled by shooter, who then barricades himself in classroom
12:44 (approximately) BORTAC kills suspect
NO armed officer available at time suspect entered school

So, complete and abject failure in initial response followed by severely delayed final entry. No telling how many kids died in the interim.

And again, no duty to protect, so government will find themselves not criminally responsible

She told me unequivocally that she was required to report me if she thought I had any reason to harm myself or another person even though I never gave her any reason. I was there trying to resolve some under lying resentments that I felt compelled my to drink excessively and after going through divorce.

I'm telling you what the facts are, specifically because I've researched this exact topic AT LENGTH on a national scale. So unless you can quote section and subsection of the state law in all 50 states legally mandating notifications, you can stop right there.

Bonus points if you can find anyone who can be held criminally liable for not reporting, especially on the government official side of the equation.

Interesting. It certainly didn't make a lick of difference at the Florida school where the SRO hid instead of protecting the children.

I wasn’t in either place and I’ve never been shot at. All I can say, this is just me saying it, if a person’s gonna take a job protecting lives, that person should have it in their mind they may have to make the ultimate sacrifice instead of just taking that job to earn a pay check.
