If this was the chronology, there sure seems to be some obvious things that could have made this thing less horrific. Every superintendent in every school district in the country should be thinking about this. And then doing something about it. And then continue to be vigilant EVERY day.

If doors were supposed to be locked and were not, at what point is someone held liable? If policies are put in place to protect kids then they can not be optional. Period.

Maybe the perp just shoots through an all glass door and gets in anyway…. Or maybe he goes in search of an unlocked door elsewhere and LE engages him outside. The most secure door does no good if anyone can open it.

When it comes to warning signs, of course his close relatives say they are shocked. I would also be very curious to hear the thoughts of the perps former teachers. I would bet a tall beverage or two that his former teachers are not surprised by his actions.
