For something more convenient than Davis, I like Ray's in Norman, particularly the brisket.
Also schnapps is gross!
On the real tho, how can a jager cocktail drinker be snobby about anything food or drink related?
Now that I am completely sober today- apologies to those I may have offended in my drunken stupor last evening (I had escorted a lovely young woman friend to an Oscars watch party and then on to a few adult drinking stations afterwards and since I was not driving I made a drunken fool of myself all evening)- I see things a little clearer. Eckk, I drink a shite ton of Jager when Im out gigging but only by itself, at home I drink it at 0 degrees from a Jager dispenser my wife gave me for Xmas several years ago, but I have never tried mixing it with anything as I like it like it is, same as the Absynthe I enjoy with friends. (Yaa, Im a f$g, I drink some schnaaps here and there I do admit it, I like it in shots or my cocoa for some winter evening relaxing sometimes. First thing I ever got drunk on at 12 or so was some peppermint schnaaps with 2 friends that my sister bought for us. We ended up all 3 laying out in the middle of Mission Blvd in San Diego staring up at the stars at 3am).
Drive to Sallisaw for a day, stop in Wildhorse Mountain BBQ (AKA Nastys) get the rib lunch with beans. BBQ heaven right there.
For a closer drive, go to Amber to Kens Steakhouse. Sure, its a steak house but they do BBQ ribs that will keep you coming back.

You didn't offend me, brother. I was referring to YG's Jager cocktails clashing with opinions on good bbq.
My point in the cocktail thread wasn't to call out people for ghey or unhip drinks. Just super sweet or sour or syrupy stuff is gross to me. But different strokes. I drink so much ghey and/or white trash **** it's unreal. Well...more white trash than ghey. And I have regrettably been plastered on rumpleminze, always free. Used to have a bartender that poured us free shots of it...I guess inventory didn't give a fawk if it was depleted. Bleh. I drank it because she often tabbed me at like 1/2 my actual tab. She got fired, we switched bars, don't think I could stomach it now. My cousin gave me some for Christmas. My gf drank it in coffee because I wouldn't.That smell...
I'm much more likely to actually make fun of a drink snob. Like an inlaw I no longer speak to who won't drink cheap beer, so much so instead of polite answer of "whatever you drink is fine" he actually requested my parents buy him craft beer for family gatherings. Back when I first met him he asked a bartender at the merc if she had any stouts once. Shoulda seen her face. I was hoping she'd slap him. Nevermind he was drinking natty light at douche parties a few years earlier...now he's a sophisticated gentlemen.
My dad drinks out of state Bud or Pacifico. Bud's not my fave but IMO it's beyond rude and douchey to make an old blue-collar dude buy your favorite farmhouse ale at $15 a 4 pack. Drink the ******* Bud.
Same for the IPA bros who try to outhop each other and act like it's manly.

My father was Scot-Irish, so genetically I am the least likely candidate to be a sober civilian. When I grew up my dad was a Coors and whiskey man, he bought us kids 8 packs of baby Millers or Little Kings mixed with our pop in the cooler on the boat. Child abuse in the 70's? They woulda laffed at ya. He gave us a smoke or a chew here and there too out fishin. He always had a fully stocked bar at home for his frequent socializing even tho he mostly only drank bourban in a glass, neat. As a tween I would take a mason jar and make a suicide of all the different liquers he kept and me and my lil bro and a buddy would swig behind the garage and then wrestle til we puked. HS it was beers and weed and cheapo wines. Post HS after 21 I played bar and music venues in bands and was fed free beers and shots for dinners. A microbrewery down the road from my place in northern CA taught me a lil about craft ales outside my regular Coronas, still love em but more favor the Coronas. The Jager came about via living in the music scene. Metal kids drink it like its pop. The schnaaps thing started when I was looking for something I could cut with something to sip in shot glasses with my kids when they hit about 18 or so (winkwink), theyre all over 21 now so F off. They lived somehow just like I did. I developed no certain taste for any good alcohol be it whiskey, tequila, or vodkas, etc over the years because altho I have worked in bars and even co-owned one for a while in the over 25 years Ive been over 21, I just havent ever been a serious drinker. Social all the way, even tho I do like to cut loose and get F'd up every now and then no matter if it hurts. I keep some nice bourban around at home besides my Jager and beers, sorry no love for the peat'y tasting scotch even being part Scot-Irish.
