Never touch them filthy things. Every January 1st when I was a kid, my father made me eat one spoonful of em. Never did acquire a taste for em.

I had never heard of this tradition before a few years ago. I still don't know where it comes from.

I can eat blackeye peas 7 days a week. That is my favorite vegetable. I keep them on hand by the cases, just in case the garden doesn't produce enough.
I can eat black-eyed peas if i have a pint of chowchow for every pea. I never paid any attention to that old ridicules tradition. Just like sitting up late dont do it cause its just another day that i have no control over whether it comes or not.
